Darien, a province in eastern Panama is so heavily forested that it is sparsely populated making it an ideal destination for hard core adventure lovers. The Darien Gap is the only gap in the Pan American Highway along the whole length of North, Central and South America. The province is the biggest in Panama and was first discovered by Europeans in 1501. Two years later Christopher Columbus set foot into the region. La Palma is the regions capital city or town. The impenetrable jungle offers a range of wildlife, plants and hot and humid weather conditions. The vast UNESCO national park of Darien is a heaven for nature lovers but traveling with a guide is recommended if you don't want to get lost.
Despite the sparse population in Darien, properties can be found in varied forms. Due to the recent property boom, offers range widely and bargains are made by those who act now. The real estate market is flourishing which is no wonder when we see the natural beauty of the country. Sitting back on the verandah overlooking the beach, yachtclub and sipping on a chilled dry white can become a reality sooner than you think.
