Herrera was founded in 1915 after a division of the Los Santos
province. Named after General Tomás Herrera it borders on the North
with Cocle, South with Los Santos, and North/Northeast with Veraguas
and East with the Pacific Ocean. Herrera has a very high sugar cane production and its industries include the likes of commercial fishing, cattle, dairy, ceramics, clay products, mosaics, cement and alcohol.
